propeller question

Post by zcoley »

Where can I find scale propellers for my bf109 and my mustang? I want to make a couple display modles. 500 series. Is this a wierd request? Thanks -Z

Not weird at all. I would say that most folks carve their own scale props. The 500 series models are very close to 1/32 scale.
So it's just a matter of finding a 1/32 prop from a plastic model kit. Ebay might be a decent source.

You may want to check out http://www.VirtualAerodrome.com and register. Once you're a registered user, you can get access to the How To's page.
One of the How To's is: How to carve a prop blade , by David Duckett.

If you can find some of the older, but popular Thimble Drome 5" 3-blade props, they would probably look decent on the 109.
I have them on my Guillows DC3, and it actually flies with them.

Thanks zcoley. Another prop you may be able to find, if you had a decently stocked LHS nearby, is the new Horizon 3-blader for their micros. The blades may be a bit small in size, but close. I have it on my Guillows Beaver. The factory hole is very small, and would probably fit the rubber band prop shaft just fine.
