He may be talking about the span of a custom build that he is planning, mentioned in another thread. Not sure what plan he was thinking about using, and it may be the smaller plan. I built kit 1005 with the 90 degree retracts per plan, with magnets to hold the gear in the retracted position. When I get around to flying the plane someday, it will be grass landed with the gear up. I did an incidence reduction like that on the P47 which worked well, as they both have a good bit of incidence. One good comparison for larger Guillows Hellcat is the depron Great Planes Hellcat that was available a few years ago. The specs right down to the incidence and airfoil are almost identical. It had a bit of a climbing issue that required slight downthrust, and probably would have been better corrected with a slight incidence reduction, which you have the opportunity to do with a build. One good feature of the Hellcat is that it has a good airfoil for rc. I built a second wing for the P47 with an airfoil more like the Hellcat's versus the flat bottomed section that the P47 kit comes with.john8750 wrote:I need to raise the leading edge, will be using ailerons, rudder and elevator. to be removeable at that size. I want fixed gear, and ailerons. Should be around 12 ozs. A light plastic covering will work much better than silk span.
