It's finished and been flown. The first picture shows the inside of the cowl. On the balance rig (There are wedge pencil erasers on the ends of those dowels.) it balanced with no ballast. Most of my designs balance with no ballast. I like to think that I'm that good but I'm really just damn lucky although, I seem to do better when I eyeball the balance point than when I actually calculate it. Dave Gee says that TLAR works very good with years of experience! I didn't make the contest because of an injury but I did fly it in the back yard for trim. All it needed was a little down and left thrust. It came out a bit heavy at 24.5 grams with a loop of 1/8" rubber in it. With 150 turns, just for trimming, it tried to leave the yard so I really wants to fly. If I built another one I would make it with a stronger leading edge. I had a couple of "controlled flight into objects" while trimming it and dented the leading edge.
