Can this be done?
I'm a newbie to Guillows and balsa. The covering of the frame is the part that worried me the most.
My model will be static only, so weight is not an issue. I want a solid and flat color, not transparent.

You can also go the poor boy route and use the walmart acrylics over white glue mix which is wayyyyyyy less money and lots less smelly and gives the added incentive of safety around kids and is all water clean-up. Just check out the crafts and hobbies section and you will find about any colors you need. For the price of one small container of butyrate you can have a whole library of acrylic colors. It also works good with an airbrush when thinned to about 60-40. You will end up with one of the nicest satin finishes attainable. It brushes out nicely too. After you have used this so called "green method" and experimented a little you will never go back to the old dopes, unless you are using fuel. It does require 2 or 3 coats to get rid of the translucence, but most finishes do.
