How much do you wind a rubber motor?

i tried messing around with a 1/16" of wire making one of those, although you cant get that fork which is so essential i think.

Mine is made from some aluminium (aluminum) tube with the end flatened. Cost? 60 pence (less than $1..)

I bought a little battery operated job at Hobby Lobby... Has a counter on it. It'll do 200 winds in about 45 seconds...

How many winds is right? One less than when it breaks...

Bill, I assume you mean a winder, not a battery powered stuffing stick?!

200 winds in 45s is prety slow, my little KP aero 10:1 can put a 1000 on in that time by hand, plus no loss of "feel" of it tightening up before it goes "ping"

those winders are pretty effective. i bought a 15:1, because they were out of 10:1s so i just went with it. easy enuff though, 10 turns=150, then just count by 150. no, not AS easy as by tens, but its alright and hey! i got nothing to complain about.

Since rubber deteriorates over time, who on line is a reliable supplier?

How do you determine the length of rubber that should be used for a particular model to get max flight? Thanks

i get mine from a place called Dare Design and Engineering. there are all sorts of things there for rubber powered FF... winders.... rubber.... props.... prop shafts... rear motor mounts.... i would think that for decent flights you should make the rubber 1.25 to 1.5 times hook to peg length. you loose about 50 winds to make the rubber thought, but you get so many more, that it is very benificial.
