Very Nice... For the canopy... Does Ted use a vacuum form machine, or just heat and push the plastic on the buck?

Re: Then and now
I get side tracked by the same hobby. This is one I finished this week. I think you are using the same medium..acrylics? We also appear to have the same approach...line drawing, than background and finish off with foreground? You are an inspiration David, sorry for hijacking your thread. Got to get back at some modeling myself, although the latest is a diecast Vincent motorbike rather than a balsa model. Can't wait to see how the Shootingstar comes out.

This too shall pass.

Re: Then and now
I feel guilty. I'm totally copying your process, but it looks great! I'm trying to figure a way to make the rear cockpit portion of my P-40 look PERFECT ( good is'nt good enough) as this will be my first display only project, and I think you just gave me an idea from looking on this thread. Thanks

Re: Then and now
David, I am about ready to start painting. If you could help, I would kike your opinion. I plan on a dark brown top with a light blue, or whatever light color comes out, for under. I have yet to experiment with acrylic color mixing. I do have some knowledge ( basic) of how to mix primary, and black and whites, etc.. my question is ( I'm doing a 500 series p-40; filling with spackle, and covered at places in tissue) what color / kind of basecoat would you think best? I was planning on a grey or tan, as this is what I've been hearing is best. I have a test piece alredy, and I like to exoeriment, but at the same time do not want to waste any more material than necesssary. thanks.
