I would love to see more planes in the 1000 series as I've already got the ones available. They are so much easier to detail for scale and much more forgiving for big fingered kluts such as myself. I have built 3 of the 500 series and found them quite nice but there just isn't that much to them although when done properly they seem to fly pretty good. Maybe a C130 in the 2000 series.
FOR ME I would like to see Guillows reissue the COMET KITS. I Enjoyed building them and they we built to fly. Also zI would like to see the B-29 reissued and a brand new model - The Cessna 177 Cardinal.
I reckon that if Guillows own the IPR for the comet kits they should re-issue them. They need not be die cut. I don't buy kits because they are die cut, I buy them because they have all of the other bits and bobs such as the decals and the canopy etc which are hard to make at home.
The comet kits that Scigs has built (which is my only experience of them)seem to be designed much better for flying than the guillows designs - they are simply designed lighter.
I'm sure they tooling costs for printed wood couln't be that much, also they could print on to much lighter wood that could fly - no more excuses about the wood being too light and crunching when they die cut!!!!
Perhaps they could issue these as "short kits" - Plan, parts sheet (on paper coated with the same stuff they use on post its) canopy/mouldings, decals, prop bush etc... ie no balsa
Let's put it this way. If they offered the package as above for the current 500 series at £1 less in the shops I reckon they would go down well with a lot of people since 90% of the time you throw the balsa away if you want to fly anyhow!
The Comet kits are being remanufactured by another company are being sold through the Penn Valley Hobby Center. Printwood kits but they are supposed to be pretty decent. The PVHC people were really good to deal with service wise. They called me on the phone to tell me they were out of something in a particular size. I was amazed that anyone would call me about a back-order.
