The tool is ingenious. Probably should patent this. Can you explain how to braid? When you say single, you do mean a single loop of rubber.

A single loop, ie one strand made into a loop.

For these it is simple, hold one end and twist the rubber along its length, the bring the two ends together and tie the knot. If it's not enough undo the knot and twist some more....

This is how I do it anyhow....

As for the tool, I can't think it's original, I must have seen it somewhere in the dim and distant past....

if you can think of it tell me where you can find it. im working on covering now. bottom of wing is done on boh wings, and one side of both the stab and rudder are completed.

ive got a bunch more covered. wings and stab are white, rudder and fuse are pink. ive gotta admitt phugoid, i tried your method and it worked like a charm! take a look. by far the best looking wing covering job on one of these kits that are a pain to cover by far so kudos to you! ive got a little wrinkle in the bottom of the picture with the top of the wing.... but thats not even a problem. maybe you can take a picture of how much washout you put on your piper cub 95? these are undoped.....

That looks great!!! Don't worry about the odd wrinkle as long as your surfaces are good and true you model will fly even with the odd wrinkle...

The washout on mine was 1/32 on the left and 1/16 under the right on the last rib.

Ideally you should have done this when shrinking the tissue AND when applying the dope.....

You could try and wet the tissue again this time with the wash out shims in place (a bit risky) , I thought that my build thread showed the wash out shims at the shrinking stage, but I can't remember

Or you could just try the shims when you dope or simply leave things as they (ie no wash out) are and use and acetate tab on the wing when triming later if the left wing dips....

Whatever you do do not use shrinking dope on your model, it will cause too harsh a shrink and bend delicate components, You can retard shrinking dope by putting in an additive (Sorry I can't remember what)

FYI I use "Banana oil" which is a light non shrinking dope.....

I think that you can use castor oil as a plasticiser (rather than a retarder).....

I think a few drops mixed in with the dope will do, an of course make sure it's thinned 50/50.....

and i made a nose block. i forgot pictures, but maybe later. i used some spare balsa on the inside of the nose cone, and suared out a hole in the nose of the plane, so it fits nice and snugg.
