Re: F-15 Eagle
Mr. Duckett. Thanks for the tips. I just painted the canopy for the T-28 Trojan using thin strips of blue masking tape and brushed on Testors enamel. Not good, had bleeding under the tape! That’s why I wondered about the liquid mask for next time. This is only my second build so I’m still on a shallow learning curve. So much to learn but your previous posts, and others, have been a tremendous help.

Hi David:
I just started kit-1402, the F-14 Tomcat. I'm putting on the underside stringers as we speak. Sheeting the fuselage is something I've never tried. Maybe this is a good time ? Are you using 1/16" or 1/32" sheeting. You work always amazes me.... the B-29 was superb...

You are a genius when it comes to building balsa wood airplanes. Your work is museum quality. Thank you so much for posting this, as it will help me out tremendously when I start to build my F-16a. I hope I can ask you for advice from time to time. I will post pics during the construction. I have already learned so much from reading your past entrys. Thanks again, Sol

Re: F-15 Eagle
Now that's modeling! I'm so tired of seeing these as plastic models, as anyone can put one of those together. One of these days I'll have to get David into the little 30mm EDFs.
A micro F15 done that well would really stand out, although I can understand not wanting to risk flying it.

What kind of filler are you using
I'd like to try it on the F-16 I just got.

Hey Dave, what kind of filler do you use?
Seriously, I'll have to try that, as I've used the Sherwin Williams spackling numerous times for wall repair when working with a contractor friend, but never for model filling. I was concerned about it bonding to wood, but apparently it works well. I haven't been thrilled with the brand name fillers such as Hobbico, as they tend to flash harden between layers which makes is impossible to sand an even surface, they melt when ironed over, and also do not fine sand well. Looks like you've gotten good results with the SW stuff. As things tend to go, the LHS had DHP brand for a short while, which seemed better than the Hobbico, but they never got it again.

Thanks David for "Bumping" this tread. Wow super nice F 15 Eagle! Also thanks for posting a great build! I find your builds very interesting and informative. True I'm not at this skill level now, reading your builds really helps my model building. I'm a big fan of your work. Thanks again.

What flawless detail, what's the secret to making it look so smooth?
