David, thank you so much for sharing. I have learned so much just from watching you build this beauty! Best of luck on your surgery.

I just had a similar situation with someone on pricing. I'm not selling it to them now, end of story for them. You try to give them a "ball park" figure, just to give them a general idea. They insist on hearing only the lowest figure in the range that you stated. This nonsense is really insulting, in that you could have worked at McDonalds for minimum wage and made the same amount of money, given the time that you have in the B29. Now ask that person if they would like to perform 200 hours of hard work for you, at 5 dollars/hr or so, and watch their response. Of course they don't want to hear it, when you explain to them that they are essentially asking you to do the same thing. It seems the only way to deal with the situation, is to buy the B29 kit yourself and then simply keep it, if someone doesn't want to pay what the finished build is worth. Very few people anymore appreciate the skill, time, and effort required to build a first rate custom model.

I guess this shows that the real value in models is in the making of them, rather than just the owning of the finished article. I'm lost in admiration for David's skills and the beautiful model he produced, but if I had $1200, I don't think I'd spend it on a model, ANY model, that someone else had built for me. I'd rather spend it on a couple of dozen models, spend a few years building them and hope to develop the skills to build whichever model I really wanted as well as I possibly could.
Given the level of skill involved, I think David's hourly rate should be pretty high so the model is probably worth even more than was paid for it.

One of the best WWII stories I ever read. Hats off to those who have and do serve! Thanks for the link and the build, David. You did a job on that plane that did Jesse Williams justice.
