Wings tip height

Post by 42-n-startinagain »

Despite effort to make the wing tips the same height when building (spitfire 403), one tip is higher than the other. The wing is complete and dry. What is the best technique to bend one side back down or the other up? Steam?

hey im no expert but it probabbly depends on the glue you used
if the problem is at the dihedral and you used white wood glue/elmers i would try some warm water to free the joint and re set it

if you used a balsa cement im not sure you will free it without a break

if the wing is twisted i would try some steam
hope something helps

Used yellow Wood glue. Should come loose.

Should I dope the wood (except around the glue joint) to prevent wood warpage?

It turns out that when I sanded the leading edge of the wing from underneath, one corner where the wing bends upward 20 degrees or so was higher than the other side causing it to lay uneven thus making one wing tip higher. Found it, leveled it out, wings are as they were formed in the jig.
