Hunt for Golden Fleece
Does anyonw know where I can get the unobtainium balsa B29 kit? I think I already know the answer, but just maybe, someone here has a lead. I am probably the 758th person looking for one, but if I don't ask, I will never know.

B-29
Sometime, the stick model fairy makes a rare appearance. Go on a field trip. Visit large flea mkts, garage sales and the like, LHS stores, especially if you hear closing possibly, old five and dimes with dusty toys on shelves. Yes, it's the hard way, but I lucked out often this way...some models were built or halfway, some kits were missing parts...but I got 'em for a buck or so. Missing parts not difficult to make. We're resourceful.
Also, forum folk may be able to tip you off or have some whole or partially buiilt model they know of that may be available at reasonalble cost. You can be reached by the PM system here, and members are now aware. Hey! you can also get a plan, scratch build, not easy, not necessarily cheap...but possible, and office places can copy a plan to size you want for just a few bucks usually. Happy hunting, it's part of the hobby, actually a fun part in some ways. Good luck.

They generally re-compute the freight when you pay for it, but those numbers tend to skew the bidding process...

I wouldn't bid on that kit without first asking for other shipping options. $34.70 for Priority mail shipping from NY to OR is a bit high, but not too far off, what they need to do is offer parcel, which they don't list in the posting.BillParker wrote:They generally re-compute the freight when you pay for it, but those numbers tend to skew the bidding process...
In the past I've sold wooden ship kits on eBay where the buyer can see the actual shipping costs estimated by USPS based on where they live, the size of the box, its weight, and if they want Priority mail or parcel. One good ol' boy in GA was shocked and mad at me that 3 day shipping from OR to GA of a 12 lb package of similar size to a B-29 box was $30. I tried to explain parcel post to him, but I don't think he got it.
That listing with 3 partial kits has some good potential. It looks like the sheet wood and clear plastics may be all gone, but there were a lot of white plastics, plans, and decals. Like Bill said elsewhere, might be a good opportunity to get the B-29 plans on the cheap.

I bid 15 bucks based on their 15 bucks shipping for a total of 30... I have the plans already, but I bet there's a few of you out there who are more than deserving... But I don't think that with 3 days left, I have any prayer of winning, so oh welll... I'm tryin' hard for you, guys!
