What I'll Need To Finish My Model?

Post by CedarBranchFisher »

Glue, going to look for Titebond at Lowe's tomorrow. Have some "old" Elmer's. Styrofoam insulation board for a work table. Is the tissue that comes in Guillow's models good or should I try to find some silkspan? Need some pins of some type. Silver spray paint okay for a model? The "camo" paint shown on the box looks like more than I want to tackle at this point.
Can anyone add to this? Thanks.

Get some "T" pins at a fabric store, they work great with a foam board. JoAnnes around here has ads for 40% off all the time so a good time to get them.

The standard tissue is fine for a first bird.

If you want to fly the model, I'd skip the spray paint. If you want color, you could buy some replacement "Jap" tissue.

Sandpaper, a sanding block, and a pack of #11 blades!

Some of the kits come with silkspan, I think anything in the 800, 1000, or 2000 series will have it, but some others may as well. Nothing wrong with the tissue in the kits unless you know enough about tissue to go buy something else for a specific reason.
