Bungee chord as rubber motor...???

So yesterday I was changing a bungee chord on one of our PC-12's and as I examined the bungee chord that I removed, I started wondering about how it would work as a rubber motor in one of our models? Has anybody tried this before? I suppose you would have to "braid" the strands of rubber together? It winds up pretty nice on its own, but having all those loose strands might cause problems at a later stage. As I live in South-Africa and its a little tricky to get descent rubber here, this would be a great alternative if it could work.

It's an interesting idea, but I would guess that bungee cord rubber probably has much more power than the structure of our models could stand. You might experiment with a "motor stick" with a prop on it to see how much torque you get from it and how many winds it will take safely. Right now I am doing a similar test on the gray rubber that comes with the Guillow's kits to see if it is really usable when properly lubricated.
