Ziptone-like decals

Post by Gene7 »

I'm building a display model version of the F4U Corsair and am considering how to delineate control surfaces (e.g., vertical stabilizer, ailerons). There used to be a product called ZipTones (I think) that were decals or adhesive-backed lines of various width. While there are obvious workarounds for this, I wonder whether there may be an equivalent product on the market. My local art supplies store doesn't know of one and I haven't found the Web of much help. Thanks for any infor.

On my big planes, I'm going to start using pin stripe tape bought at the local auto parts store... You can get this stuff very narrow, even on the little planes you could make it look right. The adhesive on this stuff is gorrilla...

soon as I get some in my hands I'll post a review/where to get it...

If you look above, you'll see a double stripe roll 3/16" by 150' black. This would allow you to split the stripes and achieve 300 foot of 1/16' pinstripe for 20 bucks. Life time supply, even on my planes...

prolly work pretty good...

Michael's craft stores used to sell two sets of pinstriping tape. There were six (maybe eight?) rolls of tape, bubble-packed onto a piece of cardboard. One set had primary colors (red, blue, green, white, black) in 1/16" and 1/8". The other set had black, silver, and copper or maybe gold.

A company called Model Graphics makes letters, numbers, lines for model trains. It's rub on, dry transfer stuff. Comes in red, white, gold, or black. I don't know how well they will work on tissue. You have to rub them on a fairly firm surface. I think tissue would just tear.
