Got to ask.... why Quarters for ballast? Instead of lead (don't blame you for not messing that stuff) or rocks or ball bearings, etc.?

That diamond - L looks great David! 8)

What are you planning for the panther/8 ball nose art and other smaller ID numbers? Free hand it, or make decals?

I see. The reason I asked is because I just ordered some do it yourself decal transfer paper for my own model. I'm kind of looking forward to seeing how it works out.

Depending on the results I get with the 1st attempt at making my own decals, I'd be happy to print those out if your friend isn't able to.

DAVID: Great modeling. How about some distant shots so we may see the entire model. Then up close for details. Keep up the excellent work.

DAVE: Thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking of distance photos with the entire model in the photo. Photos form various locations (ie. side, above, front 3/4, rear 3/4 and so on).

Thanks for your work it was enjoyable watching it take shape.

Mr. Duckett, if you're taking photo requests, I'd be very interested in seeing your masking techniques when you get to that point. Or, is all of your painting done freehand? I'm afraid my artistic talent is limited to a pencil and straight edge!

Mr. Duckett, thanks for posting these photos. I would never have thought of using your technique. I was expecting large masks similar to what I have seen folks use for air brushing.

Looking forward to seeing you complete this outstanding project.

WOW  What a great looking model. I hope I can build somthing like that one day. And I was wondering, why do you need to balence it if it is a display model? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

David:

Just went through this entire thread. Great job on the B-29. I've never tried sheeting a model, I've always used tissue. Got a P-40 in my stash, just might try your sheeting technique on it. Have enjoyed watching this model progress, and will continue following the build.

Dave,

I want to say you are doing a great job... Just a question on this landing gear. Once they are in are they secured or are they removable? Did you make a recieving pocket for them? Is your intention to display the model with the option of gear up or down, or will it be fixed down?

Again... Great Job.

Dave,

Thanks for you info... You do such great work, I am amazed... I will need to build the landing gear into my next models but want to remove it for flight!
