Wright Brothers New Laser Cut Kit
Has anyone built this kit, and how good was the Laser cutting? I am 90 yrs old and currently building the PT 17 which was my primary trainer. The die cutting in my kit was fair at best, it however was a lot better than the printed sheets when I started building Guillow kits ages ago.

Dear Waltcorr,
I have not built that kit, but I can assure you, you will be amazed with the LAZER cut pieces. In my opion they are PERFECT. Sometimes almost too perfect as I end up sanding the stringers so as to not force them into the notches.
I believe LAZER CUT PARTS is the single BEST advance that this hobby has seen. And I know what you are talking about as I have built kits that had "Printed Parts" when I was a kid... I guess I'm starting to date myself here.
I think the FLYER looks like a wonerful kit, and the ONLY reason I have not built it is that I want my models to FLY.
Sincerly, Mitch

David, thanks for your reply, it appears yours is a flying version and a beautiful job at that. I'm too old for flying models, so I'm dedicated to0 static models. If I can build mine half as great as yours, I'll be happy. I'm afraid that at 90 plus years I'm not as steady but I won't give up.David Duckett wrote:I have built it and can safely say the laser cutting is superb. It's also one of the best kits they make.

Thanks Mitch for the info.I have built a lot of models with Laser cut materials but none from Guillows. I look forward to building this model.

Like David, I also have built the Guillows Wright Flyer and I agree with him the laser cutting is excellent and the kit is one of Guillow's best.
If you visit Virtual Aerodrome as David suggests, you are welcome to check out my experience with the model, click on the 'simpleflyer' hangar and then click on the picture of the Wright Flyer.

David, I was looking at some of your build pictures when I came upon the cockpit. It blew my mind and I realized it must be the real thing.waltcorr wrote:David, thanks for your reply, it appears yours is a flying version and a beautiful job at that.
