Decals on rattle can flat paint?
Will they stick? I am building a P51 and I painted it camo with a rattle can of flat paint, the surface seems to be a bit too rough for the decals to stick.... If not any ideas? ....Thanks

Probably will not stick. Water slide decals do best on smooth, even surfaces. Some modelers will paint their camouflage in a smooth, gloss paint. Then apply decals. Then spray a some Dullcote over all that to give it a flat finish. When the decals on these models does not stick very well, I have removed the decal from the backing sheet, in the usual manner. Let dry, face down. Rub some UHU Glue STick on the model and apply decal to the glue area. Sometimes it works, sometimes I tear the decal.

Hi Granpa,
Buy a can of Krylon clear flat spraypaint at the hardware store, to spray over your paintjob. This will help to smooth it up to safely put the water-slide decals onto.
How did those working landing gears ever come out for you?

P.S. In the future, make sure to lightly sand your tissue between coats of dope with ultra-fine grit sandpaper. The dried dope makes all those microscopic fibers from the tissue firm, and stand up. Then when you sand the dried surface, it whacks down those little microscopic fibers. Then the next coats of dope and sanding make it smoother yet.
Imagine feeling a piece of seude vs. a piece of leather. You have a "suede" finish on your plane.
