I wanted some coloured white dope, but the model shop said " If you have shrunk the tissue with clear dope you can use any paint "
I have a tin of Humbrol White Gloss 22 Acrylic Spray Paint.
Would this be OK to use, causing no reaction to the tissue?
As it's my first build, I would hate to think I have to start over again.
Im workin on my first build as well, and know exactly what you mean. I would think that spray paint out of a can is too heavy/thick. I really don't know, just my two cents.
I'm fairly certain the hobby shop is correct. You can spray the acrylic over the dope. If you spray acrylic over enamel paint, the acrylic will krinkle. You might try a test piece of tissue or spray the underside of the tail first.
If you are building for flight, the spray can paint will probably add too much weight. Static display doesn't matter.
i always spray acrylic over dope. never had too much trouble with it. I only have trouble with it sticking to plastic parts. of course, i am airbrushing acyrilic so.... might want to as David Duckett. im sure he can tell you everything you need to know.
Hi.... Thank you for your advice.
Didn't want to make an expensive mistake, not money, but the time and effort one takes.
I knew she would be a non-flyer as soon as I attached the firewall, so that the nose cone would fit true.
So the front weight, with the added paint she will be static.
Trail, error and experience. Plastic is long forgotten
