1st build
My father did models for friends when I was little. I always thought that modeling was cool. I was too afraid to do it though. My husband encouraged me to try. I did the P-40 even though I made some mistakes on the way I think it is still pretty good. I even used my own decal by using the Testors decal kit. I welcome all comments that is the only way I will learn a better way of doing it. Thanks.

Do you per chance happen to work in the model department for George Lucas?
Thats a heck of a job for a 1st model.

Nice model !
I like the antenna wire detail, too.
Decals look like they turned out very well.
Where did you get the 3 bladed prop?

I have helped my husband with model railroad details. And most of my techniques on painting come from that. The prop. came from hobby store it was made for electric plane. I notice that most of the real P-40's had three blade props. The tissue is the hardest for my. I am going to try balsa wood with fillers on next model to see if I like that better. Happy modeling.

Excellent first model. You do have the decal on the wing upside down, a fairly common mistake. A good way to improve your skills is to see how others have done it by looking through pictures of how others build theirs. Here is David Duckett's P-40. You can look back through the photos to see how he built his. If you choose to post pictures of your own progress you'll get lots of good feedback as you go.

Very nice job... to look at David's models... That's a lot to look up to.
One more thing Tabitha, I believe the exahast ports could have been trimmed up to the next rim on that plastic. I might be wrong, but look at you plans. Sometimes those plastic parts are extruded out further and I have had to look closely at what they expect you to use.
It still looks very nice and it is much better than my first model.
