Target weight
How do you know what the ideal weight for a model is? I see lots of references to 'All Up Weight' and I'm intrigued as to how people arrive at this figure. Thanks!

"All Up Weight" is the total weight of the model, ready to fly. Includes all ballast and the rubber motor.
Here is a thread I found discussing weights and wing area of Guillow models.

The ideal weight appears to be around .4 gms/sq.in. to .6 gms/sq.in.
So you would need to know the total wing area of the model to find the proper total weight. (AUW)

I was talking to a pilot friend of mine and his answer was, "If you hold the model out at arms length and drop it... If it falls to the ground it's too heavy" 
But seriously there may be some truth to that because I think my sucessful flyers will glide to the ground and not "fall" I like the answer on "AUW" I did not know that! ALWAYS BUILDING... ALWAYS LEARNING... Mitch
