age of a kit?

Post by twospruces »

Hi all, quick question. I just got a Zero and it is older...any ideas on how to tell the manufacturing date of a kit?
thanks--

Sometimes the decal sheet will have a date on the back of it. You can also use the flyer listing other models available to get a general idea.

For a while in the last 15 years, or so, the decal sheets had a month - year code on the back. You could assume that the model was kitted about 3 months after the decal sheet was printed. Older decal sheets had no code on the back. Current production has a lot number on the back, but if it's laser cut it's new enough that the age of the kit is not an issue.

I saw mention of a website for Guillow on the plan...so that puts it post 1995. The brochure did not show the Mossie or the B29.

Does anyone know when the mossie went out of production?

thanks..
