Cessna 150 questions
3 issues with the Cessna 150
First question E4 pieces How exactly should they look and when should you add them to the model?
Second question.
The H5 pieces how should they be put on in order to make the placement of the back window easiest.

Re: Cessna 150 questions
The E4 pieces can be added to the wing after the wing is complete but, before it is removed from the building board.
Then carved to proper shape after removing from the board.
Look on the plans, there is a side view of E4, (3 pieces required). The picture is next to the left wing drawing, near where they show gluing the two piece plastic pilot. The bottom edge of the E4's are carved upward. Picture this: E4 is part of the flap. When the flap is down, E4 must fit the contour of the rear window. Top surface of E4 is the same profile as the rib it's glued to.
Clear as mud??
Not too sure about H5. I think what I did, was glue H5 to the stringer and B4. Then sand it to make a smooth contour.
And then just trimmed and adjust the rear window to fit on top of H5. It's not on the plans but, I added a paper strip, approx. 1/8" wide, all the way around the base of the front and rear windows. It's called a retaining strip on the full size aircraft. This makes a nice transition from the window to fuselage and hides any gaps on the model.
If I get a chance, I will try to get photos of the full size Cessna showing what E4 is supposed to represent.

Here is an Ebay link to a Cessna flap auction:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cessna-150-RH-F ... 19d660e624
The 5th picture, to the right, shows the flap upside down. E4's would be that curved, sculptured looking end.

Try this picture:
http://www.buyplaneparts.com/rear-winds ... 412020-10/
You can see where the LEFT wing and flap meets the window, where E4 is.
Also, you can see the retaining strips around the base of the rear window and down the middle.

Re: Cessna 150 questions
Can I get some one to show me how they do the M3 and M4 pieces on this kit
Putting the pieces together as they show on the plan results in something that doesnt even come close to matching the plan infact the plan pieces look to be almost 30 percent bigger than whats in the kit.

Are you sure about which pieces are what? I cannot find M4 on the plans. M3 is two pieces, blunt ends glued together and forms the upper frame of the rear window.
Can you post some pictures of what the problem is?

Re: Cessna 150 questions
Some pictures so i can illustrate the problem
as you can see where i have the part pined to the plan either part m2 is to short to actually fit and create the proper curve to fit the plan provided for the rear windscreen even acconting for foreshortening due to the angle the plan view is drawn too. (When I set the top of the fuselage lined up everything is correct so it must be the part.)
as you can see when i attach the sub assembly of M2 and 3 on the plane (held on here with scotch tape) M2 needs to be at a much bigger angle to even get m3 to touch the center line Based on my estimate m2 would need to be almost a full 1/8th inch longer to make the curve shown on the plan. and a similar but elongated shape.
Everything else lines up pretty nice and neat.

Re: Cessna 150 questions
not really I read it
His article mostly focuses on covering
Not so much on the build.

Re: Cessna 150 questions
Did anyone else have this problem or is it just me.
if its just me... what the hell did I do wrong?
With the parts laser cut it should go together perfectly every time

Re: Cessna 150 questions
Just out of curiosity, measure the width of former B3,across the top of your model and then measure B3 on the FULL SIZE TOP VIEW DETAIL. Might be a discrepancy there.
Also, I don't think that the notches in M2 and M3 have to fully interlock. There may be a gap there.

Re: Cessna 150 questions
setting the model top down on the plans for that section show the model being nearly perfect (within the lines of the drawing infact)

Re: Cessna 150 questions
The problem with building the piece means then that the windscreen pattern won't fit. I went that route last time I've built this kit two or 3 times now now and it comes out the same 3 issues at this point in the build EVERY time. The M2 and m3 pieces go together and the plan shows them fitting together tight, but they do not reach where they are supposed to. They would roughly be the same size on EVERY kit. Laser cut or Press wood. Which tells me that this should be a common problem. I bought the laser cut kit in the hopes that they would have fixed the issues I had on the last pair of times I built the plane.
I hate having incomplete or non completable projects due to parts fit/plan issues.
