So, what brands and kinds of glues does everyone use, have success with, failures with, etc?

I myseld used to use Testors wood glues, then Ambroid for years. This summer I switched over to CA's, and had health issues with them, so now I have gone to white glues.

I also experienced health problems using CA glue. So I use Elmers Carpenter Glue 99% of the time. But there is still some times when I use CA where needed. But when I do use CA I make sure to have plenty of ventilation.

I use what I think is called a celluoid glue. It's like Testor's Wood cement.
Works very well, light weight, not too strong of an odor.

White glue works o.k., might go back to it after I use up my tube of SIG-Ment.

Only use CA for quick field repairs. Too strong of an odor for me.

I use regular balsa cement for 99% of my model building, and cyano for those times when I need something to stick quick!

I use white glue for everything. 50/50 white glue and water mix for covering. I don't even know what those others are.

I have had good success using white glue (Elmers), at the moment I am trying CA. The first time I used CA I glued my finger to the fuselage :(

Join the club, we all have one point or another. Just make sure you keep the debonder or some acetone within arms reach at all times when using CA's.

I use TiteBond III. It's professional cabinet makers glue, it is waterproof, very strong and as safe as white glue. It has good tack and fairly long working time, but once it's set, it's set. Solvents won't touch it, so plan your work.

The trick to using it is to apply it very precisely. I apply it with a Monoject 412 precision oiler (Irrigator if you are getting it from a medical supply.). To fill the syringe, fill the tube about half way, put in the plunger just enough to seal and hold it upright, for a few seconds, until the air bubbles move to the top. Push the plunger to expell the air and put a straight pin in the tip to keep the glue from drying out. If you are careful about the straight pin you can keep white glue, yellow glue or Tite-bond III from drying out for over a month. When you need to refill just wash the syringe out with warm, soapy water.

I have been trying out a white glue called Weldbond............awsome results, fairly thick, sticky, and it dries clear, sands okay too.
Excellent bonding to pretty much anything.
Available at Home Depot, Lowes, etc..............

Takes quite a while to set it seems, needs to be clamped in place.
Very expensive too.......

Gorilla Glue is a polyeurethane glue that is very suited to special purposes but not general model assembly. It is very good for making laminated outlines with wet wood since it is "kicked off" by moisture. It does need to be clamped while setting. Pinning a laminated outline over plastic covered plans is adaquate. Once it is set, it is totally waterproof. Any exess glue outside the joint turns to foam and is easily sanded off. If I were building a seaplane (that I was actually going to put in the water) I would use it. You must use vinyl gloves when using it since it is a severe allergen.
