Well, I may have just wasted around $30. I went to the LHS and bought AeroGloss, thinking that it was nitrate dope. Reading the label a bit more closely at home, it says it's the "original hot fuel proof" formula or something like that so I guess I purchased Butyrate. (Midwest, Aero Gloss)
I remember using this a bunch as a kid because it was the only one that came in colors. Can I get away with using this or should I spend more and get some Sig Nitrate? I'm building a 400 Series P-51 right now, planning on flying rubber power.

Re: Butyrate and Nitrate dope
You can still use this dope, each has its own thinner and you must use the correct thinner for that dope. I have used both recently. (made the same mistake) Don't notice any difference.
If you didn't get the thinner yet, I would bring it back to the store and see if you can exchange... Otherwise when you get the other dope, keep the nitrate and butyrate separate.
You always want to thin the dope... approx. 50/50.

PS The only thing you MUST do, is you MUST use Hot Fuel Proof if you are using gas or diesel engines!
