The Grumman F3F did not have a name designation.

The Buffalo was Brewster F2A Buffalo.

The F3F was in direct competition for contract with the F2A Buffalo. They look similar but are not the same aeroplane FWIW.

thats a very interesting plane. i have an old issue of MAN that has a very good article on the F3F, and the demise of the second to last one left. its strange i was just reading it the other day. its cool someone is creating one. it is very hard because there were so man variants, and specially built versions of that plane type.
