EZE Dope Question

How many coats would you all recommend when doping an airplane with EZE Dope? I am building a Guillows Cessna 170.

Hi chips I have used easy dope since returning to the hobby after many years .try looking on the RCA groups . Com website they have some interesting views on the subject there, are a couple of pictures on this website of models I have finished with an easy dope manufactured by an English company but the cost of postage would be inhibititive if you are not in the uk or Europe.hope this helps.

Wouldn't mind giving Ezedope a try, But after using Elmers & the following disaster on the bench, I prefer standard dope minus the toxic cloud.

yes scigs30 and another person have a long thread on RC Groups about it. I posted the same question on hippocketbuilders and some one sent a link to it. I like it but trust me there is a learning curve so read my previous posts. IMO nothing beats regular dope, but Eze Dope is a good replacement. I am finishing up a old guillows Cessna 170 covered with silver tissue and brushed with Eze dope.

I have tried the white glue method once and that will be the last. I am convinced the tried & true dope is best But, should the EZedope become easily available in the states I will happy to give it a chance. My 50/50 white glue turned into a slop

What white glue method? I only use white glue to attach tissue and it works great.

Double that...i use the 50/50 white glue method for attaching tissue AND sealing. Works just fine for me AND no complaints from my Better Half!!

In similar fashion I've heard a number of times about how people tried my favorite Microlite covering once, and balled it up and threw it into the trash saying never again. There's a reason they use the term master, in master modeling. That's because we have to master these skills. Without being a tissue covering type, if I did try it then I would assume that it would take me a while to master it, and the same goes for the different application methods. I know that my airbrush will not work if the percentage mix is something like 1% off. I literally have to add only 5 drops of thinner sometimes and it sprays fine. I would imagine the same is true with thinning white glue for covering use. People need to have more perseverance in mastering these skills, when it doesn't go as planned the first time.

After thinking about my previous post on my white glue fiasco with plenty of thought of my post

after the fact... The white glue wasn't the problem it was 100% operator error. In time I am sure I will be able to master the technique applying the tissue to the freshly glued surface. I think my first mistake was NOT allowing "tack time" before applying tissue was the culprit and obviously being sloppy & uninformed about the procedure was the cause. I do like the results of dope but moving forward into a less toxic build being my 3 grandsons wish to join in on a build white glue 50/50 H2O or less H2O maybe a 60/40
mix "AKA" Matt medium would be more appropriate for their use. AS the mans prayer goes ; "I am a man I can change if I have too, I guess"
