Is this a friendly forum?

Post by phil64 »

Just wondering,I posted a question and pics of my recently completed Guillow's Avenger.I have gotten no responses and am surprised as previous posters seem to get answers/comments but all I hear are crickets chirping!I belong to many internet forums and have always received a warm welcome and quick replies to my queries. What gives?

I think this a very friendly forum for the most part. It looks like your posting was just after midnight this morning on the U.S. east coast. Give folks a chance to look at the forum and you'll get some responses, I just logged on for the first time today.

Just using the Mark 1 eyeball, I would say your wing is mounted low, but I don't know that kit at all. The pictures I've seen of other completed Avengers, however, don't look right to me either. Remember, there are usually compromises made to scale fidelity for fly ability and build ability.

Phil,

I believe you will find friendly and helpful people here. The forum is not as active as other forums you may be on, as there are few of us modelers who build these things. Moreover there are fewer still who post on the forum.

In addition to that I try not to answer if I do not know the answer. My main interest in this hobby is building 1/16 scale models, models between 24-30 inch ws. Fly them with rubber motor power. I am in the FAC (Flying Aces Club).

Welcome, and I hope you enjoy the forum with us and share photos.

HI Phil,
Sorry you felt like you got the cold shoulder here. Crickets do get a lot of air time here.

Can't help you with the Avenger build. I"ve not built that particular model. Glad you came back to the hobby.

I go on busy forums sometimes, mostly for electrical advice, but this is My favorite forum.Three yrs and 4 months ago I just got divorced, and My Child is 25. So I always planned to get back into model building. I thought about it a lot. WEll, 3 yrs ago I put this ME-109 b500 series together, and forgot to make the stringer notches ! I havw come a long way. Due to Magazines, and this forum. I wish Guillows would start a Periodical. I would glasly write for free. All thaese other magazines do not have any construction at all. Except Fly RC.. They are electric conversions usually.

Its called Swallow 2. A british version of a Klemm 25 from the 30's. It's basically a powered glider; I have become fond of Gliders lately, and want to build one soon.
