F4u
Well yet another old timer came in and bought another Guillows kit for their grandchild. And like the others he wants me to build it for the kiddies. Yes they PAY me to build kits at JD Hobbies LOL. As it is youngesters flying it I will sheet the bird in 1/32 balsa and some webbing here and there. I'll be using SIG Miami blue and for the bottom will mix up some white/blue and dab of black. I think that should be the right color for bottom. Honestly I don't remember ever seeing a 2tone F4u, I remember them being all blue at Navy Dallas but that was long time ago and I could be wrong

Re: F4u
The early"birdcage"f4u-1 were blue-gray on top and light gray on the bottom.the f4u-1a and f4u-1d were dark blue on top, light blue on sides, and white on the bottom.the late war f4u's were overall dark gloss blue.also, the 3 color scheme was light blue on the wing bottom, from tip to the fold. The light blue on the side extended from nose to leading edge of wing and from trailing edge to tail.I hope I helped.

Re: F4u
Brenda, If you sheet it, won't it add too much weight for flight?

Coloradoken:They are not contest winners fully sheeted but they do fly.
Howard: Yeah that 1943 version of two tone is what they want done to it. I'll use that photo as a template for colors. Doesn't have to be exact match but I can get real close with stock SIG dope.
