buying balsa wood

Post by woundedbear »

Where is the best place to buy balsa wood on the internet ? I have certain requirements for the balsa wood I buy. "ONE" I want to be able to select the weight of the wood Contest weight [4 to 6 pounds] Soft [6 to 9 pounds] Medium [9 to 12 pounds] or Hard [12 to 16 pounds] "TWO" I want to select the grain of the balsa wood I buy. A grain [tangent cut] or C grain [quarter cut] . I personally don't like the sellers that say "we will send you what we have", or all we sell is B grain balsa. I want what I want, and I want to be able to chose what grain, weight, and sizes I need for a particular project.

IMHO Peck Polymer was the best place to purchase Balsa wood. Peck Polymers has re opened. I don't think they have Balsa Wood for sale yet. I am posting a link to the Peck Polymer site anyway. http://www.peck-polymers.com/

I buy my balsa from Revell, they were bought out by Hobbico years ago. Hobbico also owns Great Planes who is the supplier of their balsa. Tower Hobbies balsa supplier is ...drum roll...Hobbico. Hand select grade I would try the final retailer like Tower. I got some granite balsa on my last order, one call to Hobbico and they sent my hand select grade replacement and told me to keep the granite..all free of.charge. Here is a place that will give you exactly what you need up to 4' lengths now. Their grading has always been spot onhttp://www.balsawoodinc.com/
