Hello everyone,
i registered on the this board the other day in hopes of getting some tips on my very first build. I used to build model cars as a teenager but have never tried to build a plane. My father recently passed away and left me a
Sig Four Star 40 to build. Everything is still in the box. In his honor I would like to build and fly this plane. How would you guys rank a sig 4 star 40 in difficulty to build? Should I try some other model for my first build?
Any and all responses welcome!
Thank you ..

Re: Total Newbie
For a first time build I would recommend a Guillow's 600 series kit.

Save the Sig for a later date once you have built a few planes. 600 series are good, 500 seriez are plentiful and cheap. There is alot to choose from depending on your taste.

Re: Total Newbie
i concur. Save that kit . Join a RC Club, and learn to fly. Start building with less expensive planes. The SIG kit is not a very hard build, but it is an advanced plane as far as piloting. You need a place with room. That plane is large enough to be dangerous in the hands of an inexperienced pilot, I recommend a 400 series kit. I find them easier because they are a bit larger.Good luck, and I hope You enjoy this hobby. It keeps Me off the streets, and out of trouble.

Thanks for the reply's everyone! I had a feeling the sig would not make a very good starter. And we do have a club that meets very close to my place!
I have a rc simulator to get me started. Right now I'm using Clearview (keyboard controls) and got pretty good with it after a few hours. I'd like to upgrade to a newer one. And got it down to 2 choices.
1> Phoenix
2> Real flight
I like the Phoenix because it comes with a RC that can be used on the SIM and real plane. What do you all recommend?
