This is a truly wonderful thread by a consummate craftsman. I'm just wondering though if you might want to start a new thread for each new subject?

hi 42swing - thank you for your encouragement !
I typically do post separate builds but as these are not Guillows branded kits I thought I would try to take up less space on their forum...not sure this accomplishes that but it 'feels' like it does..lol

the floats have been laid up - the wing is in the process of being infilled - some cabin trim has been applied - the main landing gear supports are being carved and shaped.
as soon as the wings are completed I can finish up the floats, then begin working on the tail surfaces.

One of the things I like about the float equipped models is the rigging. I used to love working on biplanes for that very reason. It can be maddening at first, until you figure out that pre-drilling the holes for it is the answer..at least in those hard to reach places. On the Reliant, the cross-bracing between the long, side to side spacing rails was the place to pre-drill. You do have to remember to keep clearing out the hols as you sand, seal and paint the aircraft - very important. Also on this plane, the rudder control rigging had to be arranged so that the control line would not touch the fuselage yet would not be spaced too far off of it either. The position and extension of that fuselage pulley was important - also I wanted the line to match the rake angle of the front float cabane strut - both for aesthetics and scale accuracy. Somehow both criteria were met.
