Sopwith camel Kit 801

Post by Roy »

Hi all.
Could someone tell me what is the rigging on the Camel attached to ? I’m ready to cover the wings and body but hesitate to do so until I know about the rigging.
Many thanks. Roy

I can't speak to rigging the Camel, but when I rigged my SE5, wherever possible I tried to glue the rigging thread to balsa, never to the covering. I used heavy duty carpet thread which has silk in it for strength and it hasn't stretched or sagged over 10 years since I built it.I use a pin vise with a needle diameter drill to thread through struts. Wherever possible, I pre-drilled into or through wood after covering and before painting. Rigging is the last thing you do after painting and assembly.

I attach rigging points to the struts. The rigging can be adjusted, to set and keep the wing panels aligned, being a flying rcmodel.

Bill,

Can you better explain how you attached the rigging to the struts. it's hard to tell from the photo.

Thanks!
