Re: Testor's Wood Glue
Old school model glue. I keep a tube of the "green glue" around to stick bare frame models together for "bones shots" because it comes apart easily with acetone.

Hi Kittyfritters
Thank you sir
The brown says 'Extra Fast Drying'

The green says 'Fast Drying' in description but not on the tube

Well.We will go ahead and get new ones of these.
We have both but they are pretty old.
Have forgotten how they work.
Have a good evening

Re: Testor's Wood Glue
If you like the way the old school, celluloid glues work go ahead and use them. The Formula "B" takes longer to dry than the Formula "A" but the Formula "B" is stronger. The nice thing about them is that if you make a mistake you can take the joints apart with a swab and some acetone. However, you still need to be careful about your ventilation. These glues contain acetone and 2-Ethylhexyl Diphenyl Phosphate, which is not as bad as what was also in them when I was building back in 40s and 50s (Xylene and Toluene). Still, you have to be careful to not breathe too much of it and keep far away from any open flames.
Have fun!

Re: Testor's Wood Glue
Hi Kittyfritters
Thanks
Let me see if we got this straight:
Extra Fast Drying is not as strong but it dries faster.
Fast Drying is stronger bond but it takes a little longer to dry.
Is that it?
Plus they both can make you woozy like testors plastic cement. Red tube. The old standby.
We do have plenty of wood to use to test them.
'Sticks' square in 1/6" other sizes plus some leftover balsa sheet from pressing out a Guillow's flyer.
Will put our order together.
Bob
Thanks

Hi Kittyfritters
Thanks again.
Will this work?
https://www.hobbylinc.com/testors-non-t ... ment-3522x
If it does an okay job with wood we will get a big tube like this.Use it for models and our wood project.
Plus avoid the fumes.
Have a nice day
Bob

Re: Testor's Wood Glue
I've used the Testors (non-toxic) on my plastic airplane kits, and it works
fine.I wouldn't use it on my balsa kits though, since it's made to bond
styrene plastic.I could be wrong though

Re: Testor's Wood Glue
Hi Scott
Thanks
Our plan is to test the old ones we have.
Kittyfritters said what is in the wood glues.
Got us thinking they may be generally the same as glues for plastic.
Guess we will find out!
Have a nice Saturday
Bob

Pretty sure our favorite online hobby store carried a bunch of Titebond glues.
Just looked.Poof! All gone!
Guess they had a little spat.Have seen that kind of thing before.
Anyhow.Do remember Titebond has a good reputation.Been around forever.
