On the Guillow's site, they are showing 3 of the original 100 series as available:the Fokker Dvii,Spad vii,and Sopwith Camel, all now laser cut! These 18"span beauties are sure to be popular.I hope the rest of the series will be made available as well!

Re: 100 series back!
Check the site. They are re-introducing the line at an interesting price point. This reflects current business conditions but not necessarily recent tariffs.
Looking at the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule, today, there is currently no tariff on balsa wood, no matter where it comes from, but the import duty is $1.27 /cubic meter. However, the basic prices from suppliers abroad have continued to rise increasing 130% since 2010. This reflects competition for supply due to increasing industrial uses of balsa wood and non-competition due to the balsa plantations being owned by only a few major corporations.
On the other hand, if parts for model kits are made abroad, for example, propellers molded in China, there is currently no tariff! However, the basic import duty on model parts or kits is 70%! This is an interesting point, especially with something like molded plastic parts since they must be incredibly inexpensive to make it worth making them off shore.
The import duty on model kits is something that shocked me when I looked up the Harmonized Tariff Schedule for imports to the United States since I know that in the EU, in the recent past, there was no import duty on model kits but the local VAT (Value Added Tax, read national sales tax.) is 20% in most countries but some EU countries regard model kits as "art supplies" and charge a 12.5% VAT.
Cost of imported supplies is just one of many considerations that goes into deciding on a price point.

Re: 100 series back!
Hi Guys
I am happy that the 100 seris is coming back
I would have liked them to make the Neiuport 28 first as DUMAS makes a SPAD VII as well.
Price is a little higher that DUMAS, but I plan to buy all 3 from Guillow's.
I have not ordered them yet since I am going to AZ in 12 days... I will order them before I leave, so they arrive in AZ when I am there.
I am recently retired and have a Condo in AZ, Moreover AZ is where I fly these models. I set up the spare bedroom to be my hobbyshop.
When I get these models it will be interesting to see how the SPAD compares to the DUMAS kit.
Also, I was in the process of buyuilding an old Guillow's Fokker DVII. It will be fun to finish that old kit and then build the new LASER cut version.
To Be Continued...

Re: 100 series back!
sounds like a solid plan. I will get the new laser Fokker D7, so now I don't have to touch the vintage one I have.

I guess you have a big stash of old vintage 100 series ready to build, because if you think prices of the new Guillows Laser cut 100 series is too much, I am sure you aren't buying any of the vintage Guillows kits. Ebay prices are typically a lot more dinero.
Your complaint sounds like all the guys I have known or heard about that never bought anything at the local hobby store, then complain and cry when it goes out of business! Guillows won't bring back the rest of the series if nobody buys the ones they have reissued!
I am on SS too, I also watch what I spend, if I am short on cash, and I want a kit or supplies, I cut out my beer ration for couple weeks and cut out more expensive food.

Re: 100 series back!
I bought all three, not because I need them but because I want to support Guillows.

Re: 100 series back!
So far I bought the Fokker D7 even though I have (three already) sealed, unsealed and aftermarket laser cut versions of the D7, for the same reason to support Guillows, and maybe they will bring back the rest of the 100series.

Re: 100 series back!
Hi Guys
I just ordered all 3. I am going to AZ tomorrow and they are being sent there.
I am in the FAC (Flying Aces Club) and have flown a few... or several, Guillow Models at the FAC events.
Guillow Models are not contest winners, but I build them because I like Guillow Models.
My pesonnal best was 3rd Place in WW2 Mass Launch, with my 400 series Bf109. (Extended wingtips)
I will follow up with more info when I recieve these models.
Mitch
PS: I flew a 100 series SE5a and my $1.50 model flew for 24 seconds, but I did not make it to the next round in WW1 Mass Launch.

Re: 100 series back!
Hi Guys
I just received my package from Guillow's of all 3 models.
I AM NOT DISAPPOINTED!
Everything I loved about these models and more.
The plastic cowlings are all there and now made out of a slightly softer plastic. Moreover, the plastic wheels that I love.
I do not enjoy carving cowlings and making wheels!
The parts are numbered as per classic Guillow's, but very light I really want to start one of these soon. Probably the Camel, as that is one of the models I have not yet built.
The plans are rolled, not folded...so after I inspect, I might save these plans and use my old yellow plans if they match up.
I am busy with other things at the house now and have company coming soon, also have a few Fokkers (Guillow's) on the work bench now. I built the D8 and scaled down the plans from the Dr1 to 100 series (15 inch ws) using cowling from a D8. Also plan to kitbash to make a Fokker D6.
SO...
FIRST IMPRESSIONS...
Model Kits are GREAT... I hope Guillow's is successful with this endeavour!

Looks like mint condition. I have a vintage one also, but now that I bought the new Laser Cut D7 , I will build that.
