Fokker DR-1 question
Need some help. On various pictures I have seen, there is what I will call a spear on the bottom wing of the DR-1. It is located on the very tip of the wing, looks like it is made of wood. My question is: what is it and can anyone furnish a web site that has a good close up picture of the object. I would like to add it to my DR-1. Thanks in advance.

The piece of wood at the lower wing tips is to prevent damage to the wings during a ground loop. Sort of a wing tip skid. As for pictures of it, just keep searching the web. Walter Redfern sells plans for a full size replica DRI. Maybe you could include that name with your search and someone on the web might be showing off their handiwork, with close up photos.

DR-1 Question
Hello, Jhawkblu...
I think I can help: Perhaps you are referring to the lower wing tip skid that all DR-1's had. It was added to prevent wing tip strikes.

DR-1 Question
Hello again, Jhawkblu...
If you'd like to see more on the Guillow's Tripe, here's a link to the completed model.

The Guillow's Triplane plan was used for construction, but considerable airframe lightining done throughout construction.
