Electric RC convesions

I am starting with a vintage (dull die cut) SE5 and want to make it electric powered with Rudder and Elevator RC. I was wondering if anyone has info on how best to do this.
So far, the plans are difficult to interpret so I am kind of guessing how to put it together. I hope the newer kits (haven't opened them yet) of the Scout, DR1 and Camel have better plans and that the laser cut parts are better.

Check out this list of Guillow's RC electric conversions maintained by Smokin' Beaver. There are three links to SE5 conversions. I highly recommend signing up for RCGroups and starting a build log so you can get advice from others and be a resource for others.

Excellant advice SteveM. Great link. Smoking Beaver went to alot of trouble to create that list and it is a great blessing. I now have it on my desktop.
In the begining, I would buy a cheap r/c plane and salvage the parts after I crashed it. The problem is, cheap planes have cheap, heavy parts. There are many places to buy micro parts for these craft and in the long run, a person is better off getting the good stuff from the start.
It is really great that a list of refrence exists like the one mentioned above.

Between Phil (Smokin Beaver) and myself, we've probably flown half the Guillows fleet as electric rc conversions. Phil's been a real inspiration. Some of mine are on his RCG list, while more recently they are at Wattflyer. Finally got back on the Dauntless, adding ailerons. Not too bad a job, after doing a number of these after the build additions, using torque rod control. I built some kits with rud/elev before aileron flying. Only the 190 worked out well, mostly due to high dihedral purposely added. This one has retracts, adding interest to it. Will have the same heavy AUW of my Guillows P47, but not too worried at the P47 is an excellent flyer.

Bill Gaylord, I use Photo Buckett. Its free. I have a File on my desktop and put all my pics in it. Then transfer what I want into photobuckett. When you want to post online, Just set the size to 600 x what ever and left click " img code" to copy , then on your post click paste. Its important to size correctly so that we dont have to scroll side to side to see it or read the post. At that size, your pic is full size but not too big on almost any forum. Heres a link to photo buckett.
