Over on another forum, I'm doing a conversion of the B-24 to electric r/c and intend to fly it.
A bit of a challenge to make the 'Display Only' birds to fly? - yes, but that's the fun of it.
I got the Catalina fly (and it is a good flyer too) so now my attention id fixed onto the big B-24.
Powered by small brushless motors and equipped with plug-in u/c and operating off elevator, ailerons, flaps & rudder I hope to see her airborne in a few weeks time.
AUFW should hopefully be about <17oz.
Well it flies!
And very well too.
This model is basically a straight out-of-the-box build.
Some stringers left out as it had the fuze partially sheeted & main wings too. Rudders/fins from light balsa sheet.
Full funtion A/E/R & flaps.
Some little brushless outrunners & lipo pack make it fly with authority.
The wings incidences are straight from the plan - no changes, just built per plan.
A bit of washout in the wings is about all. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attachme ... id=2386446 http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attachme ... id=2371825
A very enjoyable plane to build & fly - not for a novice builder but good for an aileron competant pilot.
