Low cost kits

Post by SteveM »

Until now I found that Hobbylic had the lowest prices on Guillow's kits. And they do, except that I recently found an even lower price for the 2000 series kits.

I have never ordered from them, but Model Expo has the 2000 series kits for $55. Their prices for the other kits aren't bad either.

So get out there and buy everyone a kit for Christmas! :D

Hobbylinc is reliable and I have ordered from them before. I have not yet used Model Expo so cannot attest to them. But if/when I order from them I will post here how it went.

Considering they charge $69 and $55 respectively for a 2000 series kit, it shocked me to see people spending $96 for these on eBay. But that could have been just the Christmas rush/panic.

Those are pretty good prices, I may have to try them out. The shipping is pretty good too ($10 if under $100 and free if over).

I just ordered 7 kits from ACSUPPLYCO and recieved them in about 4 to 5 days. As order was just ove $100, there was no shipping charge. They were packed very carefully and shipped via UPS.

I am very happy with their service and price.

Great, thanks for reporting your experience. I have yet to try them as I have been able to gather a sizable stash from ebay at good prices.

Luckily, the closest hobby store to me has Guillow models only a few dollars than the prices on the site.

It is good to support the locals and keep them going, however my locals only have 3-5 planes and no supplies whatsoever for building them- I figure if they aren't commited why should I be?

I sometimes order the planes directly off of the Guillow site.

Don't you find that to be ghastly expensive? I haven't paid more than $30 for any of my 2000 series kits except for the B-29 for obvious reasons.

I own a hobby shop and I'm just starting with the Guillow's model kits.

I try to keep the prices low and it will be a while before I get Dope, but I want to give it a good try and possibly bring in the micro electric motors and light weight servo's to convert them to RC.

I've got the kits so far, but need to do this in "Baby Steps" due to the current economy.

I can see wanting to at least have clear and some colored dopes...but i'm not sure how many folk would spend the countless hours trying to convert these to R/C. Have you looked at www.balsausa.com?
Theres some (non Guillow, sorry) kits ready to go r/c.
