Rubber Powered SE-5 Build

I am all done minus the wheels. The wheels that come with the kit weigh 15 grams for the pair, that is just too heavy. My plane right now all done weighs 53 grams minus wheels and rubber. This has been a fun build even though I am not big on biplanes. Can't wait to start on my next build.

The quality of your craftmanship is inspiring. I'm just starting the guillows stearman, but some days my hands shake so badly I don't dare go near anything that requires such precision. At least the wood in this model is quite good but it's to nice of a day to spend indoors. I can here my harley calling so have a good one.

The wheels that came with this kit weigh 15 grams pr or 7.5 each. This is too much weight so I decided to make my own wheels using the Guillows wheels as a mold. I used thin styrene and my trusty old Vac U Form from the 60's. This toy is awesome for making OOP plastic parts. The new wheels weigh 2 grams each, 4 grams pr. I will lightly brush black along the tire portion and leave the inside white.

I for one do not like building WWI birds. I have only built a handful over the last 25 years. They are time consuming and tough to fly. I will attempt to build all the current and old 200 series plus the old WWI birds with 18 inch wing spans. I have all the old kits so it should be fun.
