Piper Super Cub 95

Howdy! This is my first forum so let me know if I'm not doing it right!

I bought and built the kit# 602 Piper Super Cub 95, and it came out (amazingly!) at 28 grams, cowl, rubber and prop. I balanced it according to the CG pins, and then flew it... And I had to put 20 GRAMS of weight on the nose so it would fly!

So, is there a way to bend the stabilizer down, so I can take clay off the nose, or would a 1 3/2" down thrust shim work? And by the way its covered in domestic tissue, and I'm flying it with F.A.I. Tan Super Sport 1/8" rubber thats one and a half times the length of the plane, doubled back. Lubed with ArmorAll. Thanks for any help

I am afraid you are stuck with the nose weight issue. You need to have it balanced on the proper CG or it will not fly very well at all, if at all.

Yeah- I hah not flown it yet, so I went out yesterday... AMAZING!!!! It flies 15 feet high,for 10-15 seconds, which is what I really wanted! No shim, just a ton of clay. Another fine Guillows product! (I have built the 601 Cessna 180 also) Thanks-I'll try to post a in-air pic!!!

Appears that Guilow's is pretty much bang on in providing clay for weight then.......

Yeah! Too bad its such a big glob on the nose...

But I painted it and it looks better. What do you think would be a good kit for my next try? I've built the Cessna 180, a scratch built Piper J-3 Cub, and this one. I would like something a little more challenging. How would a Fokker DR-1 Triplane be?

Okay! Do the 200 series fly by rubber power? I like them to fly in the 10 second range. Doubled F.A.I. Sport rubber seems to give plenty of power on the ones I've built so far-actually they wouldnt fly long at all untill I doubled it. Thanks for all the advice!
