How do i launch a guillow airplane off the ground?

Post by coolguy123 »

Hi, im kinda new to building maodel airplanes and i have a question.
i have a Cessna 180 Guillow model airplane. it is rubber powered and it has landing gear on it, i am trying to launch it from the ground. after i put the plane on the ground it should go off the ground and fly by itself.
any ideas
thanks

well I sure dont have the expereance some of these guys have, but I have never had much luck getting a rog flight, I think because at release it is at peak power and is at the point of the most torque which will cause it to veer off to one side before it can get airborne , I would like to here what some of the other guys think, they know much more than I, thats why Im here ...to learn all I can.

Well, I don't have near the experience others have on here, but my experience is that the power is at its peak at takeoff time, and if you hand luanch it, it will fly 5-6 seconds longer than if you set it on the ground. I have built that model, and honestly don't know if it would even take off. But I would use doubled F.A.I. rubber if I was going to try it. Hope this helps.
