I have flown quite a few control line planes and will relate one tidbit. Make sure that you use "FUEL-PROOF" Dope. Anything else will melt away with the castor oil that will be in the exhaust plume. And I mean anything. You should coat the entire plane including the plywood firewall making sure that any glued joints are covered. This is where the Ambroid stuff came through, it was "Fuel-Proof" and they made it in a quick dry version we would take to the field. Of course quick is all relative. Favorite plane was the Goldberg "Lil Jumpin Bean." Nice plane. Great kit.
The heartbreak of seeing that nice paint job flowing away and the silkspan sagging is more than the joy of my first flight.

I used 1/2a model engine fuel, and had no problem with castor oil. I'm makin another one. will post pictures wen it's done.
