Good for you. I have no problem with selling kits to highest bidder.
I just hope this forum doesn't turn into a market place.

marketplace

Post by peterc4 »

Its sort of a shame...but I guess that Guillows can't really have a "marketplace" on their forum. It would make no sense.

It was interesting seeing that people care enough about that kit to spend 250$ on it.

Hope there is a "build" thread coming soon!

An Opportunity for someone

Post by lukebozek1 »

Having tried E-Bay three times to find a Guillows Mosquito, I can emphasize with the person who spent 250 dollars on this kit. I have never seen one and have no idea where I would build this if I did. But the bottom line is that it is their money and they alone can decide what 250 dollars should look like. When I am working 250 is a lark, when I am not working, it is my electric, water and student loan all wrapped up in a bag. But I hope it worked out, better than bidding on a "sealed and unopened kit" and finding 1/2 of the sheets are missing when it arrives, or being beaten out with 7 seconds to go by a dollar, or having a seller cancelling because he was robbed (they broke in and stole the two kits that I wanted and left the diamond collection unscathed-sounds like someone here...) I finally gave up. I am going small now, peanut scale and let's see how that works.

Here's one at auction...

Post by BillParker »

For everyone to watch, and hopefully enjoy:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

Prediction: somewhere around $160 USD. This auction started last night, Sunday Aug 15 2010, and goes to Sunday week. Some of the bids will be from builders, like us, some from collectors who are "speculating."

I usually bid $90 just to prime the pump, (and enjoy being in the lead for a few minutes) and washout the "low ballers..." Just gonna watch this one. I have bought lots of stuff from this particular seller before, and had no complaints.

Other than the plastic parts, all you need is the print to build any balsa plane.

I bought the 29 plan from the AMA Plan service, and have blown it up 300% to 162" wingspan.

If I can find a home for it, I'll build it. Green on top black on bottom like the bombers that at first began to level Japanese cities with firebombs. You always see silver ones, but no green...

Anyway, you want a big bomber for your garage/hangar?

E-Bay

Post by lukebozek1 »

That kit on E-Bay is over a hundred now as of 8/18. It is in a sealed box so maybe it is pristine. I do get a chuckle when they tell you it is an "Un-Built and Un-Opened Kit" and then they show pictures of the parts inside. Not in this case however, but you could ask if they would inventory it for you.....

7 Hours to go and 30 bucks short of my predicted 160 bucks... Last few minutes are always fun... Like watching a train wreck...
