Re: Cessna 180 Group Build
Thanks for the explanation. One question however. You mention using the water resistant printer ink, are you wetting the printed tissue for some reason after printing? Or, is this just to prevent the ink from running on the dry tissue? I have a Canon printer so I’m not sure that water resistant ink is available for my model! BTW what brand of spray adhesive do you use. In the past I used Duro brand from Wal-Mart, but they don’t seem to carry it anymore!

On this plane the printed tissue was just for markings applied to an already covered model. In some cases I may want to print the tissue that I will be covering the actual model with. I will shrink the tissue after it is applied. In these cases I wouldn't want the ink to run when it is sprayed to shrink. Even in the case where I am using the printed tissue as decals there is always the chance they will get wet when flying on a damp day or landing in a puddle. Every ink I used other than the Epson Durabrite inks ran like crazy. I have had planes land in small ponds that have had printed tissue with Durabrite inks and they don't run. I tried other inks and had them run when dew got on the plane. Very disappointing. I think you can get an Epson printer that uses Durabrite inks for as little as like $60.00 new. To me it was worth switching back even though my Lexmark printer still worked fine.
The brand of adhesive I think is Elmer's Craft Bond. I'm not sure. It doesn't really matter what brand you use. All you want is to apply the spray very lightly and keep the tack very low so not to permanently adhere the tissue to the backing paper. Some people have used repositionable glue stick. Just remember to not spray the tissue but the backing paper.

The top of the nose is completed with a piece that covers the centre portion and is trimmed to suit:
