Spitfire(500)
First of all, I am a new this form and it has been more then twenty years since I last built a Guillow's product. I like this forum because it features a how to philosophy and the end products are absolutely amazing. All the above has motivated me to build a Spitfire(500).
I am using a Magna-Board to help with the construction. The magnets are stong and they will hold the pieces down and then some. Also, they are great for making sure your forms are straight and true. It's like having a third hand. I am notching the forms with The Notcher. It does a great job.

I am using a home made jig to help true the fuselage:

It is time to add the stringers:

Spitfire
I drilled some holes as you can see. I used my drill press and I placed a wood block underneat so as to avoid tear out. This eliminates some weight http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj25 ... 1271688887[/img]

good work on your "lightening holes..."
Next plane, do the wing formers, fuse formers, tail feathers as well...
To hear the guys around here tell it, you just can't lose enuff weight...
(that's what my wife told me too!)

Applying Camo to my spitfire
Hey all, I am now in the process of applying paint to my 500 series Spit. I am using Foto Frisket film to help me with this process. Also, I am using an Airbrush. [ http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj25 ... 1274101312][/img]
