Old 500 Series kits

Post by Phugoid »

Can anyone date these old 500 Series kits? The box arts look like the current 400 series. A leaflet inside is dated 1974 so they are later than that.

The box's are excellent quality, "four Square" and very solid and have a top and bottom. The die cuts are good and the balsa is pretty light. I picked these up for £10 each (15 bucks) ex shop stock.

All told a quality product whe first made.....

Is there a date code, something like "8-4" in the center of the back of the decal sheets?

no, there is a handwritten looking number 93827, and they were made by the Chicago Decal co.

The plan does not have the modification/update relating to the obsolecence of the 0.1 engine

Funny thing is that both these kits had the cellophane on, and yet the canopy in the Focke Wulf is missing, so back in the 1970's somebody missed it out!

If anyone has a spare (especially if you are in UK) then I'd like to replace it if possible, it is no different now than it ever was as far as I can tell.

If the worst comes to the worst I'll order one via the Guillows customer care folk, It's only a dollar, but the postage could be a lot more.....
