flying weights
i built a 500 series zero (rufe), and I was wondering if 2 pounds was too heavy.... Just kidding!
I dont know how heavy it really is, but suggestions on flying weights would be appreciated
The P-38 is arguably the best... Forget that, it is THE BEST fighter of world war two, and is epically AWESOME!

In the 500 series you probably want to be in the 2-3oz range for rubber power. Take a look at the 500 series builds by sigs30, he got the Stuka down to 32 grams.

out of all of the 500 series the Hellcat is the one with the potentially lowest wing loading. Mine flies well at about 23g less rubber

How much weight is too much? A former F-104 pilot told me that if you attach enough horsepower, anything will fly.
As a rule of thumb for rubber powered models, you want you wing loading to be .3 to .6 grams per square inch of wing area. There is a thread on this forum listing wing areas of various models. So just divide the model's total weight (grams) by the total wing area (square inches).
