This is my second build, the first was a Kit 4401 - Fly Boy. I started building the P-40 hoping to get it flying, but soon discovered that it is quite a step up from the Fly Boy! Somewhere along the line my wife brought home 156 silk-worms that she got from one of the kids at the school where she teaches. So, the thought crossed our mind that since the P-40 was a bit crooked to say the least, it would be kinda cool to cover it with the silk that these slimy creatures produce...you be the judge!
@ Arlo DiPasquale: I won't be flying this one, lets just say this was the experiment to see if it could be done. With next years silk-worm season I will build one for flying. Promise.
Next time for flying, i would use your own wood to make it much lighter, plus maybe a couple mods like moving the rear motor mount peg forward a bay or two. I would be interested to see how good of a covering job one can achive this way.
