Chipmunk

Post by akofly »

Hi all, Here's my chipmunk so far. almost ready for test flight. I used the glue stick method to glue the tissue to the frame and im impressed with this method. I,m a thinned white glue guy but since i saw this method demonstrated on utube it has turned out to be a quick and neat way of tissueing a frame. See how it goes with time. Usual water spray after attaching and 2 coats of thinned dope. One thing i always do with my builds is to infill the nose section. Just about every plane ive built needed nose wieght so by adding infill it adds a little wieght were its needed plus adds strength. Airbrushed thinned silver enamel. should be a great little flier. Good lookin' bird akofly!

All the best of luck for the initial flight of your Chipmunk. I look forward to hearing how it performed. Are you using the gray spaghetti rubber from the Guillow's kit, or upgrading to something a little beefier?

Thanks pauli72. Ill be using the rubber from the kit to start with. I haven't got a lot of usable rubber left at the moment. Hope to test fly this weekend coming. Ill post the pics as soon as i do. Daryl

Hope it flies well. Maybe it will motivate me to build it, since I have this kit sitting around. Probably should just build it as a rubber flyer, as the little built-up series builds light. Bought it initially for an enlarged Chipmunk build, where the Guillows wing plan was used, with the fuse built from a 3-view.
